So…yeah, I know I haven’t been blogging lately but I’ve been working on my bookstagram skills. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see. But sorry guyys, I promise I’ll try and keep on top of it now! Let me know down below if you want another book review. Honestly, I understand The Catcher in the Rye isn’t the most appealing book for teenagers. At the end of this video I’ll tell you what I’m currently reading and you tell me if you want a full series review! I probably will post a review because this series is affecting me so much!
Anyway, I’m getting side-tracked. During the month of March, I managed to read 5 and a half books. I’ve already finished the half book but I’ll add it to my April wrap up.
Let’s get on with the wrap up!
The first week of March, I was involved in the ReadoRama read-a-thon…
I think that managed to put me in a bit of the reading slump because it was my first full read-a-thon….
But yeah… the first book I read in March was New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.
I can’t tell you too much about the plot of this book because it’s a sequel and I don’t want to spoil you. But, the basic plot is that a human named Bella falls in love with a vampire called Edward. Yeah, it’s as simple as that. The whole of the story is basically a contemporary love story with a few vampire twists at the end.
I read Twilight a year or two ago and I only read New Moon to complete a challenge of continue with a series for a readathon. It was then that I realised why I never continued on with the series.
I think I found New Moon to be worse than Twilight because I found the main character, Bella, to be really really REALLY whiny. Every chapter she’d moan on and on and on. I was half tempted to put this book down and then an action scene would happen that would throw me back into the story. Then the whole thing would loop round again.
I really enjoyed all the action scenes, I thought they were really fast paced and gripping, but I found that the rest of the book was just a moany contemporary- which really isn’t my thing.. I think the book could’ve been shortened dramatically if most of the repetetive monologues were cut out.
Overall, I think I gave this book a 3/5 stars- it was okay but I think some of the repetitive monologues could’ve been missed out.
Next, I read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger. 
I had to read this for school so I guess you could call this required reading. I think when I’m asked to read a book for school it automatically puts me off a little bit and hinders my opinion no matter what the book is. However, I just didn’t think this book was for me. This book would definitely appeal to most teenagers, especially rebels because Holden Caulfield definitely is a rebellious character who doesn’t seem to connect with people and thinks his life is above others. However, I’m not a rebel… goody goody… so this book didn’t really relate to me and I found Holden to be quite an annoying character. His voice annoyed me with his constant repetition of certain words like ‘goddam’ and his repetiton of known facts previously stated in the book.
I think I gave this book a 3.5/5 stars.

After that I read..
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and this book broke my heart and ripped it to shreds.
This book is about two people in high school, a boy and a girl who meet on top of the school bell tower where one talks the other out of jumping off. There is a major trigger warning for suicide with this book. I loved all the mystery and secrecy in this book because it made me want to read on and it really connected me to the characters and made them seem a lot more relatable and realistsic.
Now, about the whole debate of how similar this book is to The Fault in Our Stars… I really don’t care. So what if the books are similar, this book has so many more unique aspects that give it a beautiful quality. Actually, I think I might prefer this to The Fault in Our Stars because I love all the extra bits like the dual perspective and the family characters- I think they make the story seem more plausible. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved TFIOS but it has been a long time since I read it and before I heard about this debate, it never crossed my mind that they might be similar.
The only problems I could’ve possibly had with this book would be that it took me a long time to read and it left me with a huge book hangover. I could not stop thinking about it. However, it was really nice to take my time with this book and to not think about how quickly I could read it.
I gave this beautiful and poetic book 5/5 stars- it broke my heart and changed the way I think about life.
After that I read….
We Were Liars by E.Lockhart..
This book! Wow! I definitely did not see that coming, it completely blew me off guard, I was so not prepared!
I can’t really tell you what this book is about because that is the whole secret behind it, you have to go inot this book without knowing anything. Just know that this is a beautifully dark contemporary about finding yourself. There, that’s all I can say!
The characters in this book were so well written and despite the fact that this book is so short, I really connected to the characters and I really felt a part of this story whilst reading it. The writing style of E.Lockhart was so unique as it allowed you to become immersed in the story and the characters without really knowing a great deal about the story at all.
The only problems I could’ve had with this one would be that this 200 page book took me 6 days to read. That is not normal for me. I really enjoyed what I read but I do think it was a mistake to read this after All The Bright Places as, like I said, it put me in a huge hangover!
The plot twist was so well thought out and I loved it so so much, I actually had to put the book down for a few seconds to get over the shock. All in all, I gave this book a 5/5 stars. Absolutely fantastic!
The final book I finished in the month of March was Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi..
This book! Oh my goodness it was amazing!
This is probably my favourite book of the year so far it is incredible!
This book is about a girl named Juliette who’s touch can kill you. She is taken in by The Reestablishment because they intend to use her as a weapon. Juliette doesn’ want to be used as a weapon because she doesn’t want to hurt anybody. The world in which this book is set is a dystopian mess where there isn’t enough food for anyone and the birds don’t fly and all the animals are dead. The story is all about Juliette’s struggle to cope with the enormity of her power and the war looming on the horizon.
The writing style of this book is so different and it has such a fluid movement to it. Juliette’s character evolves so much throughout this book and as her character strengthens, the story becomes more fast paced and thrilling. Tahereh Mafi’s writing is so gripping and there are so many twists and turns, all of which caught me completely off guard! There is also a heart-wrenching love-triangle which I won’t go into too much detail about because I don’t want to spoil you but just know it’s amazing!
Also, the covers for these books have become my absolute favourites!
Obviously, I gave this book a huge 5/5 stars! It was phenomenal!
So, there you have it! There are all the books I read in the month of March! I really enjoyed what I read towards the end of the month, but the beginning of the month was a bit slow!
